Time and change - a necessary part of life, but at times it leaves me sad and nostalgic. I had one of those moments at the end of Spring Break. We attended a musical production of "Oliver". Colin Flannery was "Charley Bates", Oliver's sidekick. He even had a solo!
Colin and Bethany met soon after we arrived in Tucson through a mutual friend, Hannah Waddel. (Colin's mom was also Kenna's elementary school teacher.) As two-years-olds, Hannah, Colin and Bethany become the best of friends. When Hannah moved the following year, Colin and Bethany spent every school day together - brother and sister.
School, parties, activities, holidays, piano lessons - they were together.
Then came middle-school. Colin is at Cross and Bethany at Wilson. Now when they are together there is an awkwardness and shyness - like new acquaintances. So time marches on...
