First stop was the Santa Cruz boardwalk - Lori & I got to relive some favorite childhood memories - the rollercoaster and merry-go-round. They even had some new scary rides for Marah. "Deep-fried" Twinkles - at the beach??? We opted for the corn, which was possibly as fattening.
Next stop - Monterey, home of John Steinbeck.
more importantly, seals and otters!
to the drought-challenged waterfall. It was over 100 degrees - even when we got back to San Francisco!!! Just days later, the entire area was on fire.
Point Lobos and the 17-mile drive were our last outdoor scenery stops:
Back to Monterey to watch the otter feeding at the aquarium exhibit.Marah loves penguins:
but the jellyfish were fascinating too,
as well as the squid - oops, Kenna says it's actually an octopus:

Yes, that's me - glasses, coat, hood, blanket and backpack for windblock - it's backseat survival in a convertible!
