Cruisin' Down the Cali Coast

First stop was the Santa Cruz boardwalk - Lori & I got to relive some favorite childhood memories - the rollercoaster and merry-go-round. They even had some new scary rides for Marah. "Deep-fried" Twinkles - at the beach??? We opted for the corn, which was possibly as fattening. Next stop - Monterey, home of John Steinbeck. more importantly, seals and otters!

Last stop for the day - Big Sur Lodge - bedtime.
Our first stop the next morning was Pffiefer State Beach aka "Dog" beach - because canines are allowed:
Then lunch at the Nepenthe Resturant:
Followed by Julia Pffiefer Falls:
then the Sea Lions - we could have stayed for hours listening to their bellows, snorts and other strange noises.
Our final day of coastal cruising began with a gorgeous view off our back deck.
We hiked the Redwood trail:

to the drought-challenged waterfall. It was over 100 degrees - even when we got back to San Francisco!!! Just days later, the entire area was on fire.
Point Lobos and the 17-mile drive were our last outdoor scenery stops:Back to Monterey to watch the otter feeding at the aquarium exhibit.
Marah loves penguins:but the jellyfish were fascinating too, as well as the squid - oops, Kenna says it's actually an octopus:

The entire Monterey Aquarium experience was exceptional!!!
Our coastal adventure ended with the death of my camera at Dippin Dots, and drive back to San Francisco because Kenna was joining our girl's week!
Yes, that's me - glasses, coat, hood, blanket and backpack for windblock - it's backseat survival in a convertible!
